today is switch day, which anyone with a septic field may know of as the day you switch the septic field from the left to the right (this may not be accurate, as i have never done this, and i don't even know what a septic field is). in my house, this is basically a national holiday and my father makes sure it's on everybody's calendar. (i'm surprised we don't all take off work to partake in the switch day festivities.)
the last switch day was september 19th, 2010. i know this because my father made me get up to take photos of him performing the switch day duties at 6am:
i was awoken this morning at 6am to my father yelling happy switch day, and i think he was a little disapointed that i didn't get up to take pictures, again. been there, done that. so i slept in until 6:30, when my mother woke me up to tell me there was a switch day present downstairs for me.
i'm not sure how switch day translates to a macy's 50 dollar giftcard and 20% off, but i was definitely adopted by the best/weirdest parents in the world.
